What’s New in NetSuite 2026.2: What It Means for Your Finance and Operations Teams

Every NetSuite release comes with a long list of updates. Some change core processes, while others are smaller refinements that quietly save time. NetSuite 2026.2 is no exception, with several changes that UK finance teams and supply planners should pay close attention to.

In our previous article, we explained what NetSuite Next means for UK and Irish companies. This follow-up looks at the wider NetSuite 2026.2 release and the improvements your teams can start using today.

Not every new feature will matter to every business. The real value of a release comes from understanding which changes fit the way your teams already work, and how NetSuite ERP can help reduce manual effort, improve visibility and strengthen control.

In this blog, we look at the key updates to bank reconciliation, inventory optimisation and the period close, along with practical steps to get the most from the release.

Why release updates deserve attention

For existing NetSuite customers, reviewing each release is the best way to make sure the business is getting full value from the system. As a cloud ERP, NetSuite delivers new releases automatically, so there is no upgrade project to plan and no new version to install. The downside is a risk that is easy to miss: new functionality can appear in your account without anyone realising.

As a result, features that could simplify everyday processes often go unused simply because no one has checked what has changed. Setting aside time to review each release helps your teams take advantage of the improvements already available to them.

Smarter, faster bank reconciliation

Bank reconciliation is one of the highlights of NetSuite 2026.2. Finance teams spend a significant amount of time matching transactions, so improvements in this area can make a real difference to productivity.

Key enhancements include:

  • A guided reconciliation workspace that adds more automation to the reconciliation process
  • A match suggestions workspace, replacing the previous Review tab, which shows the GL transaction next to the bank transaction and suggests one or more likely matches
  • Payment creation from bank transactions where they match an open purchase invoice or customer invoice, a capability that was previously limited to the sales side
  • Automatic submission of manual matches for reconciliation, removing an extra step from the process
  • A stronger audit trail showing who matched and submitted transactions, together with redesigned matching pages featuring clearer labels and additional filters
  • A new bank reconciliation landing page that brings all accounts into a single view, highlights those that need attention and includes a Generate Insights button for narrative insights

Together, these changes make an established finance process easier to manage and let teams focus on the areas where professional judgement really matters.

Data-driven inventory optimisation

Reorder points are at the heart of supply planning, but maintaining them manually, one item at a time, is slow and prone to error, especially as demand and supplier lead times change.

NetSuite’s Inventory Optimisation feature takes a more data-driven approach, grouping items into Inventory Optimisation Segments using an ABC/123 model. The ABC element reflects business value based on annual consumption value, while the 123 element reflects how variable demand is, from predictable to erratic. Items are assigned to segments such as A1 or C3, and each segment carries a default service level that feeds into planning calculations.

Crucially, planners stay in control and can override service levels at segment, item or item-location level. This means supply teams can still apply their own expertise when circumstances call for it.

The enhanced Exception Management feature also highlights projected stock-outs, shortages and overstocks whenever projected inventory drops below zero, safety stock or the reorder point. These are shown on the Inventory Imbalance tab, giving teams an earlier warning without the need for manual searches.

A faster, more collaborative period close

The Intelligent Close Manager was already built to help finance teams manage the accounting close. NetSuite 2026.2 expands its capabilities to support more complex month-end processes, including:

  • Custom tasks so the close checklist can reflect how your finance team really works, rather than following a generic template
  • Narrative insights generated directly from the close portlet to highlight areas that need attention
  • Intercompany eliminations run from the Accounting tab, bringing an important multi-entity process into the same place as the rest of the close

These changes may not seem dramatic, but when the books are closed every month, removing small amounts of unnecessary admin soon adds up.

Further enhancements across the suite

NetSuite 2026.2 also brings improvements across the wider range of NetSuite products, including stronger password authentication, new project health indicators in SuiteProjects, the option to start order fulfilment directly from Sales Order lists and improvements to Rough-Cut Capacity Planning in Manufacturing. Businesses should concentrate on the areas their teams use most, as even a small improvement can deliver real value when it affects a daily process.

Getting more from NetSuite 2026.2

An automatic release doesn’t mean there is nothing left to do. Some enhancements add value straight away, while others need decisions or configuration first. Inventory optimisation, for example, requires segments and service levels to be defined, while the Intelligent Close Manager can be tailored with custom tasks to match your month-end process.

Businesses should review the changes against their existing workflows and make sure users understand what has changed and how it affects their role.

NetSuite Next is Coming: What UK and Irish Companies Need to Know

As AI becomes an important part of a company’s software, Finance Directors, CFOs and Operations Directors are naturally asking what NetSuite Next is, what is changing and when they can expect access.

NetSuite Next is the next evolution of the NetSuite experience, bringing AI further into the platform alongside a refreshed interface. It began rolling out with the NetSuite 2026.2 release in July 2026, initially in the US and Canada. UK customers can expect it in early December 2026, with customers in Ireland following in Q1 2027. In the meantime, NetSuite AI capabilities are already available, and organisations can begin preparing their existing environments now.

What is NetSuite Next?

NetSuite Next is an AI-enhanced evolution of the NetSuite platform, paired with a refreshed interface. Rather than being a separate application, it is designed to make the data, processes and tasks already within NetSuite easier to access and act upon.

At its core is Ask Oracle, a conversational assistant that allows users to ask questions in plain language. Depending on their roles and permissions, users can query company data, generate reports and complete tasks without navigating the system manually. Instead of learning where to find information, users can simply ask NetSuite for what they need as part of their normal workflow.

When will NetSuite Next be available in the UK and Ireland?

Oracle currently lists NetSuite Next as available to customers in the United States and Canada, with UK customers due to receive it in early December 2026 and customers in Ireland in Q1 2027. Availability may also depend on the account and the phased rollout, with eligible administrators receiving in-product options when their account becomes available.

With these dates approaching, companies should use this time to prepare.

What NetSuite Next means for existing customers

For companies that have spent years building their NetSuite ERP environment around their own processes, the transition is designed to be straightforward. Key points include:

  • No reimplementation required: existing data, roles, permissions, customisations and workflows remain in place, so there is no complex data migration or new ERP implementation project
  • A preview account for testing: Oracle provides a NetSuite Next preview account using a copy of your existing environment, including roles, workflows and customisations, allowing administrators to explore the new interface and AI capabilities without affecting production
  • Role-based adoption: administrators can set individual roles or groups of roles to use NetSuite Next, make it available as an option or block access, with Ask Oracle access managed separately

This combination gives companies greater control over adoption. A finance team, for example, does not need to move at the same time as operations, and important processes can be tested before changes reach the live environment.

What is already available in NetSuite 2026.2?

It’s important not to confuse NetSuite Next with the entire 2026.2 release, which includes a much wider range of updates across finance, inventory, manufacturing, field service, projects, analytics and AI. The exact capabilities available to an individual account depend on its configuration, region and licensing.

Companies don’t need to wait for NetSuite Next to benefit from AI and automation. The 2026.2 release already includes AI-supported improvements such as narrative insights within bank reconciliation and the Intelligent Close Manager. NetSuite Next represents the next stage of that journey, not the point at which AI becomes useful.

How to prepare for NetSuite Next

Preparation does not require a major project. Some of the most valuable steps are relatively straightforward:

  • Review roles and permissions:
AI operates within your existing governance, so review which users can access which information and functions. This is an opportunity to remove outdated roles and unnecessary permissions.
  • Improve data quality:
AI is only as useful as the information it works with. Inconsistent, incomplete or outdated records make it harder to obtain reliable answers, and cleaning up data improves reporting and everyday processes today.
  • Review customisations and workflows:
While existing customisations do not need rebuilding, it’s important to assess whether heavily customised processes are still needed, could be simplified or rely on old scripts and integrations that can be removed.
  • Identify where teams spend time:
Identify the tasks requiring the most manual effort, such as report preparation or navigating multiple screens for routine work. These are the areas where AI and automation are likely to deliver the most practical value.

Why work with OSSM?

At OSSM, we help NetSuite customers prepare for what comes next, rather than waiting for an announcement and working everything out at once. We can review your current NetSuite environment, including configuration, workflows, customisations and processes, and identify where improvements can be made.

Our NetSuite services cover implementation, support, development and training. For existing customers, this means ensuring your environment is ready to take advantage of new capabilities. For organisations considering NetSuite for the first time, NetSuite Next is a clear indication of how AI is becoming part of the wider ERP platform.

With NetSuite Next due for UK customers in early December 2026 and for customers in Ireland in Q1 2027, companies can do a lot now to ensure their data, processes and user access are ready.
